NELLIE E. SALOON, THE DESERT BAR

View from behind the Blue Water Casino in Parker on the Colorado River
Rachel, David and Teri at the Desert Bar, Nellie E. Saloon.

The Nellie E. Saloon is situated it he Buckskin Mountains, on land that was an old mining camp.

It's a strange place, 5 miles off the main road on a rough, high, narrow, twisting gravel road. When you finally arrive at the "bar" you are amazed to see hundreds of people there.

Parking lot at the Desert Bar

George finds his dream ride in the parking lot.

Church facade made of solid steel. (Paul's kind of church)

Lots of antique farm equipment and vehicles litter the road and parking lot.

Walking down the path to the bar.

Walking bridge to the bar.

Rach and George having a good time.
Teri enjoying the bar.

This couple had a great time.

Part of the open bar.

The band was super, loved the backdrop. REAL mountains! We had a blast dancing.

The gang goofing off on the balcony.
Teri and David enjoying some warmth after the rain.

Rach and George
Old fire truck in the parking lot.

What happens at the Desert Bar.........

George

Girls just wanna have fun. No excuse for Paul.

Loking down at the bar

View from the balcony.

The bar was cool.
Paul and George making friends of strangers. It was cool and rainy outside, so the inside fireplace felt great.

Nice lady poses with George.
Paul and his new friend.

Paul heads for the wierd metal church.

OK we won't.

Teri is a rose between 2 thorns.
Being the shortest (no surprise there) Mary rides in the back of the Jeep.

A truly "wet" bar.

STONE CABIN AND COOL MINE

Paul, Garey, Duane and JoAnn look up in a shaft that opens skyward.
The Stone Cabin has it's usual share of wierd geocache items out in the open.

How true

Paul looks at the outside of the mine from behind an ocotillo.

Looking for the opening we saw from within the mine.

JoAnn and Garey coming down off the hill.

Mine shaft openings all over the place.

Shaft openings on both sides.

Garey and Paul emerge from the smallish shaft opening.

Flashlights coming out.

Looking out at the real world.

The shafts down here go in every direction: up, down, sideways!

Paul climbs up an interesting shaft opening.

another shaft opening: I didn't crawl into this one!

Looking skyward

Emerging from the upper shaft

Garey and JoAnn stand below the sunshine shaft opening.

openings above and below
Garey and Paul check out the geology

Garey and Duane
Back to the entrance.
Really quite a small opening into an amazing mine.

My undies from last year, lol

Garey and JoAnns RZR from the window of the Stone Cabin
More wierd stuff in the cabin, plus the guest book

We arrive at the cabin

JoAnn, Garey, Paul and Duane take a break in front of the Stone Cabin.
